Our 2015 Walk will now be held on SATURDAY, MAY 2nd with a new schedule, starting with our 1 mile Walk FIRST at 11 a.m., followed by team picnics and food for sale.
Our goal: To emphasize that the Walk is a fundraiser.
- Over 82% of the 9,500 plus walkers in the park at the 2014 Walk did not raise funds. The planning and costs for such a large event consumes valuable staff time and resources.
- Our immense event DOES raise awareness, but we have to do more than "simply picnic in the park.” We have to raise funds if we are to change the lives of those we serve.
The free MARTA shuttles from the Midtown MARTA Station will ONLY RUN TO THE PARK from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. bring teams and walkers to the park for the 11:00 a.m. Walk start. The shuttles will begin return trips to MARTA at 1:00 p.m. from the park back to the Midtown MARTA Station.
The Lupus Foundation of America is the only national force devoted to solving the mystery of lupus while giving caring support to those who suffer from its brutal impact. Through a comprehensive program of research, education and advocacy we lead the fight to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus.
Lupus is an unpredictable and potentially fatal autoimmune disease that affects 55,000 Georgians; mostly women aged 18-45, but also men, children and women of all ages. The cruel mystery does not daunt us. We work tirelessly to improve the lives of all people affected by lupus.
Join us in the fight to end lupus!
